MAGA supporters demand Trump resign over his threat to 'destroy Iranian civilization'
Despite nearly total loyalty from Republican lawmakers in Congress, the very activists who once vigorously helped propel Trump to power and dominated public discourse now feel betrayed.
During his campaign, Trump promised to end America's entanglement in "endless wars" and focus on rebuilding the nation.
Now, conservative activists are deeply shocked by his threatening remarks toward Iran—and even his attacks on Islam.
Tucker Carlson, one of Trump’s most loyal former supporters and a controversial journalist, has delivered the loudest and most sustained criticism against Trump.
In a 43-minute video posted on X, Carlson labeled Trump’s threats as “repugnant in every way” and accused him of endangering war crimes. “How dare you say such things to a country on Easter morning? Who do you think you are?”
Another staunch former presidential supporter, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, also hinted that Trump should resign. “The 25th Amendment!! No bombs have been dropped on the U.S. We cannot destroy an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.”
The U.S. Constitution’s 25th Amendment outlines procedures for transferring power to the Vice President when the President becomes incapacitated or resigns early.
For years, Alex Jones—a far-right conspiracy theorist long known for defending Trump—also called for Trump to step down. In a podcast, he described the president as “a person at risk of dementia who must be removed from office.”
Conservative activist and commentator Candace Owens, with millions of followers, labeled Trump a “psychopath committing genocide” and demanded intervention from Congress and the Pentagon to stop his policies.
Joe Rogan, a prominent podcast host who played a key role in Trump’s 2024 election victory, said going to war with Iran was “insane compared to what he promised during his campaign.” Rogan added that Trump supporters who wanted the president to focus on domestic issues felt “betrayed.”
Axios also reported other cases of influential figures within the MAGA movement expressing disappointment in Trump.
