On August 9, according to a U.S. digital news website, representatives from the United States, Ukraine, and several European countries will meet in the UK this weekend to coordinate positions ahead of the scheduled meeting between U.S. President Trump and Russian President Putin.
Ukraine and some NATO allies are concerned that the U.S. and Russia may reach an agreement behind closed doors, with Trump possibly accepting Putin's proposal for a ceasefire while ignoring their opinions.
Previously, U.S. special envoy for Middle East affairs Witkov revealed that Putin is willing to end the war on the condition that Ukraine gives up its claims over the Luhansk, Donetsk, Crimea, Kherson, and Zaporozhye regions.
However, he later stated that Putin's proposal is to freeze the current front lines, allowing parts of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions (including the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant) to remain under Russian control.
Ukrainian officials remain unclear about this proposal and pointed out that according to the constitution, any territorial cession would require a referendum.
