Overseas media: According to the latest report from JPMorgan, China's electric vehicle market price war is becoming more intense, leading to a gloomier prospect for car manufacturers' profitability.
In April 2025, the average discount of China's auto manufacturers reached 16.8%, setting a new historical high, further deepening from 16.3% in March. By comparison, the average discount last year was only 8.3%.
Since most electric vehicle manufacturers have yet to achieve profitability, this trend exacerbates the pessimistic expectations for their financial performance. The head of JPMorgan's Asia-Pacific Automotive Research pointed out that the current price competition is fierce, but the demand for electric vehicles has not significantly increased; thus, the price war is unlikely to end in the short term.
