American Commerce Secretary believes the EU will not impose retaliatory import taxes on American goods!

American Commerce Secretary Rutenic stated that he believes EU countries will not impose import taxes on American goods in response to the Washington government's planned similar measures starting August 1.

"They won't do it. About half an hour ago this morning, I called the EU representatives during trade negotiations, and there is enough opportunity for all parties to reach an agreement. I believe we will reach an agreement."

Rutenic confirmed that Washington still plans to impose import taxes on all European exports on August 1: "This is a tough deadline, and the new regulations will come into effect on August 1."

Rutenic believes that the US and the EU can continue to negotiate to reach a comprehensive agreement: "Nothing can stop us from continuing to negotiate after August 1, but they must start paying import taxes from August 1."
