Report: China becomes the global leader in offshore wind power in 2024
Russia Satellite News, Moscow, September 16 - According to a report by German data statistics company Statista, in 2024, China became the leader in the global offshore wind power field, with a cumulative new offshore wind power capacity of 4,038 megawatts.
The report pointed out that in 2024, the new offshore wind power capacity added in China was 1.5 times that of Europe, which ranked second, with a total of 2,698 megawatts of new offshore wind power capacity added in European countries in 2024.
According to the report, the new offshore wind power capacity added outside of China and Europe totaled only 1,265 megawatts.
According to data from China's National Energy Administration, with China accelerating its transition to clean technologies, its wind power capacity continues to grow. Since 2013, China's wind power capacity has increased by about six times, while solar power generation capacity has increased more than 180 times.
On September 12, China released two new action plans aimed at promoting the transformation and upgrading of the energy equipment industry and achieving the clean and intelligent development of the energy sector. These plans include a two-year initiative, aiming to promote quality growth in the energy industry.
