Mustafa al-Adawi, an Islamic scholar, was detained by Egyptian security forces, and his social media accounts were blocked for criticizing the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Sheikh Mustafa al-Adawi is a renowned Egyptian Salafi Islamic scholar and Hadith expert with extreme religious views who often criticizes the Egyptian government. In 2020, he also called for a boycott of French products to protest a French magazine that published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

On November 1st, the Grand Egyptian Museum officially opened near the Giza Pyramids. This national project, which took 20 years, showcases over 50,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. Egyptian President Sisi called it "the fusion of Egypt's ancient and modern genius," and expects it to attract five million tourists annually to boost the economy.

Al-Adawi emphasized in a video before the opening that visiting should not be for tourism entertainment or the celebration of "pagan" heritage, but to remember the religious lessons in Islam.

Like Iran, Egypt has its own ancient and glorious civilization, but it was forced to convert due to the Arab invasion. However, paradoxically, they do not feel ashamed of their conversion, and most people go quite extreme.
