Mongolia Begins to Manage Mongolian Novice Monks Studying in India: Increase in General Education and Mother Tongue and Culture Education
Reported by the Press Office of the Ministry of Education of Mongolia on April 11 in Ulaanbaatar, in order to allow novice monks studying in India to receive general education as well as Mongolian language and culture education, the Ministry of Education of Mongolia has begun registering young monks studying at Buddhist temples in the Republic of India to investigate their educational rights and assess the possibility of implementing supplementary general education programs.
So far, a total of 407 young monks are receiving education at 14 Buddhist temples in India. The Ministry of Education has consulted with the responsible persons of these temples and agreed, without affecting religious studies, to provide general education and related courses according to the temple's teaching schedule.
In addition, the plan will also include content for Mongolian language and cultural education to help novice monks maintain their connection with their ethnic language and culture while learning Buddhism. The education they receive will also be considered part of the necessary education received domestically in Mongolia.
