"China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor" Railway Project Accelerates
Montsame, Ulaanbaatar, March 19 - According to the Ministry of Transportation, within the framework of the "Plan for Building the Mongolia-China-Russia Economic Corridor," the three parties will discuss the feasibility study report on integrating the railway central corridor and plan to sign relevant documents during the "International Transport and Logistics Forum" held in St. Petersburg, Russia in April.
During an online meeting with Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Dmitriy Zvirev, Mongolian Minister of Transportation B. Dugarzayakh agreed to sign the aforementioned documents and the documents regarding the branch railway project from Bagahangai to Hesigburen. In addition, both sides agreed to advance the negotiations on resuming the direct flight route from Ulaanbaatar to Moscow and accelerate the preliminary preparations.
The "Plan for Building the Mongolia-China-Russia Economic Corridor" was signed by the presidents of the three countries in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2016. The railway central corridor of the three-country economic corridor is 5,975 kilometers long. So far, the feasibility study reports for 328 kilometers of railway from Jining to Erlianhot in China and 254 kilometers of railway from Nauski to Ulan-Ude in Russia have been completed. Meanwhile, the Mongolian side has included a 1,087-kilometer railway from Sukhbaatar to Zhamun-Ude in the feasibility study report.
