The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to tighten regulations on China Telecom equipment, showing that Washington's campaign to suppress China's technology sector has escalated again.
The FCC passed new rules on October 28 with a 3-0 vote, prohibiting the approval of new devices containing components from companies on the "covered list," and in specific cases, it can revoke the authorization for already approved devices.
Previously, the FCC had placed Huawei, ZTE, China Mobile, and China Telecom on the covered list, prohibiting the approval of these companies' imported or sold communication equipment.
Major U.S. online retail platforms have removed millions of Chinese electronic products based on the FCC's regulatory actions. The removed items include home security cameras and smartwatches produced by Huawei, Hikvision, ZTE, and Dahua Technology.
