Reference Message Network reported on April 27 that according to the report from the Russian Satellite Communications Agency on April 27, the Blue Book "China Nuclear Energy Development Report 2025" released today by the China Nuclear Energy Association shows that as of now, there are a total of 102 nuclear power units in operation, under construction, and approved for construction in China, with an installed capacity reaching 113 million kilowatts, making China's overall scale of nuclear power first in the world.
The message noted that currently, there are 28 nuclear power units under construction in China, with a total installed capacity of 33.65 million kilowatts. The installed capacity of the under-construction units has remained the highest in the world for 18 consecutive years; the commercial operating nuclear power units in China have reached 58, with a total installed capacity of 60.96 million kilowatts.
In addition, the electricity generation of China's nuclear power has continued to grow. In 2024, the cumulative electricity generated by the national operating nuclear power units reached 444.7 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 4.72% of the country's total electricity generation, ranking second in the world, equivalent to reducing the combustion of 127 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 334 million tons.
While the scale of nuclear power continues to expand, China's autonomous innovation capability in nuclear power technology has also significantly improved. In 2024, key main equipment for nuclear power achieved 100% domestication and the key component technology became independently controllable. A total of 114 sets of domestic nuclear power main equipment were delivered throughout the year, ensuring the normal operation of units such as Hualong One, Guohe series, and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.

On January 1, 2025, after a 168-hour full-power continuous operation test, the world's largest Hualong One nuclear power base ushered in a New Year's "good start". The No. 1 unit of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power invested and controlled by China National Nuclear Corporation under the group officially entered commercial operation, marking a significant progress in the batch construction of Hualong One.
