UK Home Office: New Record Labour Came to Power, a Total of 50,000 Migrants Entered the UK

According to statistics published on the UK government website by the UK Home Office, over 50,000 illegal migrants have arrived in the UK since the Labour Party came to power in July 2024. This has set a negative record for current Prime Minister Starmer compared to his predecessor.

Labour had already listed reducing the influx of illegal immigrants as one of its main goals before the election. Since 2018, the scene of migrants crossing the English Channel has been ongoing in the UK.

As of August 11, a total of 50,271 migrants have arrived at the UK coast. That means, within 403 days of Labour's governance (illegal immigrants), the threshold of 50,000 was exceeded, which is a negative record for the current government.

During the tenure of Prime Minister Sunak (2022-2024), this threshold was breached after 610 days, which almost covered his entire term. Less than 10 days after the statistics showed more than 50,000 illegal immigrants arriving in the UK, the ruling Conservative Party lost the subsequent election.

During the tenure of Johnson (2019-2022), the number of such immigrants reached this level only after 1,066 days following the election.

Illegal immigrants often try every means to enter the UK and obtain refugee status, which allows them to receive government subsidies and social welfare. In 2024, over 36,800 illegal immigrants arrived in the UK by sea across the English Channel, an increase of 25% compared to 2023. The record influx occurred in 2022, when over 45,700 immigrants arrived at the UK coast. The UK authorities spend millions of pounds a day providing hotels for asylum seekers.
