Foreign media reported that EU member states voted to decide that within the next five years, Chinese medical equipment enterprises will be prohibited from participating in EU government procurement tenders with a single amount exceeding 5 million euros (approximately 5.2 million US dollars). This is the first time that the EU has used its "International Procurement Instrument" (IPI), aiming to respond to China's refusal to open its bidding to EU enterprises.
This measure is expected to be finally approved and implemented by the European Commission within a few weeks.
