American aircraft carriers continue to show off their might in the waters around China.
On November 12, 2025, the U.S. Navy's "George Washington" aircraft carrier strike group, the 5th Carrier Air Wing (CVW 5), and the Republic of Korea Navy conducted a carrier strike group exercise (CSGEX) at sea, including coordinated navigation and flight operations.
CSGEX is a bilateral exercise aimed at enhancing naval interoperability, strengthening the U.S.-South Korea alliance, and demonstrating both sides' shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The "George Washington" aircraft carrier (CVN 73) is the U.S. Navy's first forward-deployed aircraft carrier and a long-standing symbol of the United States' commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Aircraft from the 5th Carrier Air Wing (CVW 5) and a Republic of Korea Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft flew over the "George Washington" aircraft carrier (CVN 73) during the海上航母打击群演习 (CSGEX).
