Foreign media reports: Apple has committed to investing up to $100 million in sourcing titanium from U.S. suppliers to advance domestic manufacturing, signing a three-year procurement agreement with Perryman Company of Pennsylvania. The titanium will be used across multiple products, including the company’s first foldable-screen smartphone, the iPhone Duo, with at least 80% of the material derived from recycled sources. This move is part of Apple’s broader initiative launched last year to strengthen manufacturing within the United States.
Currently, nearly 100 components for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are already being produced by suppliers across more than a dozen U.S. states. TSMC’s Arizona facility is expected to manufacture over one billion chips for Apple by 2026, while Corning’s Kentucky plant will assume full global production responsibility for cover glass used in iPhones and Apple Watches by year-end.
