Shared electric scooters are returning to the streets

This Friday, the capital's roads and sidewalks will be occupied by shared scooter users again. Although operators are being cautious, waiting for stable warm weather and dry roads, the transportation bureau has announced: the new season starts on March 20th.

The equipment is ready, the usage rules remain unchanged, and according to statistics, the residents have already become accustomed to these rules. Last year, the number of accidents involving Whoosh scooters in Moscow decreased by 60%. The typical user is a man aged 25-30 working in IT or finance, who mainly uses the scooter for short-distance transfers from the subway to the office during peak hours (accounting for 75% of trips). Each ride lasts an average of 10 minutes.

However, the main challenge of the new season is the possible mobile internet blockage. To ensure the service does not interrupt, the companies have developed a "Plan B".

Operators have prepared practical tips to achieve unlimited internet access. Whoosh has developed a technology to start a rental via SMS: simply scan the QR code, and the text message will be automatically filled out. Additionally, now you can take a scooter by pointing the camera at the large number on the scooter - the application will display the battery level of each vehicle.

Yurent company has also thought of everything. The service has been listed on the digital department's whitelist, but just in case, it has also launched a function for SMS-based rentals. Just open the app, select the "Rent via SMS" option, send the generated SMS, and the scooter will activate. All scooters in the fleet are equipped with special modules to operate under such conditions.
