Indian Opposition Party MPs Criticize IMF Loan to Pakistan
Gogoi Gaurav, a Member of the Indian National Congress, said that it was "shocking and disappointing" for the International Monetary Fund to approve a loan to Pakistan after the Pulwama attack.
The deputy leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha posted on social media saying, "This loan will only perpetuate the military's rule over the state."
Late Friday, the IMF Executive Board approved a new loan of $1.4 billion to Pakistan under its Climate Adaptation Trust Fund, and released around $1 billion in cash after the first successful review of a larger previous loan program.
