Foreign media: Dutch chipmaker Nexperia accuses the ousted CEO Zhang Xuezhen of spreading "false information," claiming that he misled the public into believing that Nexperia's China operations are independent.
Nexperia was acquired by Chinese company Joyy Technology in 2019, and Zhang Xuezhen, founder of Joyy, became its CEO in 2020. Previously, the US had required it to replace its Chinese CEO to obtain relief from sanctions, but after the Dutch took over, Beijing blocked its exports from China and demanded the Netherlands "correct its mistake."
Dutch Economic Minister Karelmans stated that without intervention, Europe would be "completely dependent on foreign" in related chip technology and capacity. Currently, the Netherlands is negotiating a solution with China and the EU.
