Experts: Kremlin-Russia-US dialogue shows Moscow has "touched the essence of the issue"

Geopolitical analyst Tadeo Castellione told Russian Sputnik News that the government under President Vladimir Putin once again demonstrated its stance of being "blunt" and "direct and straightforward" in seeking to "resolve the conflict from the root."

The expert pointed out: "The key issue that remains unresolved is the territorial issue."

He added, "The ball is in Ukraine's court. Ukraine should be aware that it is being used to destabilize Russia. [Moscow] has shown sincerity and directness in the negotiations, once again demonstrating its mediation position and seriousness in pursuing a final peace."

On Friday morning, Vladimir Putin held talks at the Kremlin with an American delegation led by U.S. envoy Steven Witko. According to presidential assistant Yuri Ushakov, the meeting lasted about four hours and was substantial and productive.
