American Arms Sales to Taiwan, China Imposes Severe Sanctions

Today (December 23), in the morning, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce made statements successively, imposing severe sanctions on the American companies that produce weapons sold to Taiwan worth 11.1 billion US dollars:

Companies such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, and General Atomics, which participated in the production of weapons sold to Taiwan, have been placed on an unreliable entity list, their commercial activities in China have been canceled, and new project investments have been completely suspended.

At the same time, the export of rare earths will require a license application before the customs, blocking the demand of US high-tech products for rare earths.

This response is a departure from past practices of only making verbal protests and opposition, using concrete actions to let the United States feel the high cost of selling weapons to Taiwan.
