On July 12, Korean media "Daily Korea" published an article stating that the number of millionaires in South Korea is increasing year by year. Last year, the number of millionaires in South Korea reached 1.3 million, ranking tenth among major countries in the world.
In the "Global Wealth Report 2025" recently released by UBS, a Swiss investment bank, as of last year, the number of millionaires in South Korea with assets exceeding $1 million was 1.301 million, which is an increase from 1.295674 million in 2023, surpassing 1.3 million.
Among the 56 developed and developing countries surveyed, the country with the most millionaires is the United States, with 23.831 million, accounting for 39.7% of the total number of millionaires worldwide.
The number of millionaires in the United States is four times that of China, which ranks second (6.327 million), and more than the sum of millionaires in France (2.897 million), Japan (2.732 million), Germany (2.675 million), and the UK (2.624 million) ranked third to sixth.
The seventh to ninth places are Canada (2.098 million), Australia (1.904 million), and Italy (1.344 million), respectively.
Countries with more than one million millionaires include the Netherlands (1.267 million), Spain (1.202 million), and Switzerland (1.119 million).
By region, the South American country with the most millionaires is Brazil (433,000), followed by Mexico (399,000).
In the Middle East, they are Saudi Arabia (339,000), the UAE (240,000), and Israel (186,000), respectively.
Globally, there are about 60 million millionaires, whose total assets amount to 22.647 trillion dollars.
In the United States, the number of millionaires increased by 379,000 last year, meaning that every day, 1,000 new millionaires were added. During the same period, 386 new millionaires were born in China every day.
UBS predicts that driven by economic growth in the United States and other regions, over the next five years, the global number of millionaires will increase by more than 5 million by 2029.
