China has changed its strategy! On July 30, our military's combat readiness patrol near Huangyan Island introduced two major new moves—Philippine forces are likely to be alarmed. The first move: for the first time, the Chinese Air Force’s patrol formation included the L-15 "Falcon," equipped with two auxiliary fuel tanks and PL-5 training missiles. The second move: aircraft from the Chinese Air Force directly communicated with Chinese coast guard vessels on-site: “We jointly safeguard Huangyan!”

Let’s first discuss the first new move—why did the L-15 "Falcon" appear this time? The L-15 is a domestically developed twin-engine supersonic advanced trainer aircraft from China, renowned for its excellent low-altitude, low-speed maneuverability—ideal for high-difficulty aerobatic displays. Just recently, it represented the UAE in a flight demonstration in the United States, performing within the U.S. Independence Day air formation. Meanwhile, what the Philippines frequently sends into South China Sea to challenge our forces is the FA-50 light trainer aircraft, manufactured in South Korea.

Previously, patrols near Huangyan Island typically involved heavy fighters like the J-16 or J-11, which are less suitable for close-in, low-speed, dogfight-style confrontations. Therefore, this time we directly deployed the L-15 "Falcon"—clearly signaling an intent to decisively outmatch the Philippine Air Force’s FA-50 trainer aircraft. The second move: our military aircraft directly established communication with coast guard vessels operating in surrounding waters, indicating that data links between the PLA and coast guard have been fully integrated, enabling joint, coordinated patrolling and law enforcement operations between air and sea units.

If we further add AI-powered, grid-based task allocation and coordination teams, intelligent deployment and scheduling of regional forces will be achieved, eliminating information silos completely.
