Pakistan: The defense agreement with Saudi Arabia allows the use of our nuclear capabilities
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Friday that Pakistan's nuclear capabilities can be used within the framework of the Islamabad Joint Strategic Agreement (JSA) signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia two days ago.
Asif stated during an interview with Pakistan's Geographical News Channel that Pakistan's nuclear capabilities can certainly be used within the framework of this agreement.
When asked about the possibility of other Arab countries joining the agreement, Asif responded, "I cannot state clearly at this time, but I must emphasize that the door is open."
He emphasized that it is a fundamental right for Islamic nations to jointly defend their territories and people.
He emphasized that the agreement reached with Saudi Arabia does not target any country, but is for defensive purposes in order to jointly respond to any potential attacks against both countries.
On Wednesday, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif signed a joint strategic defense agreement.
A joint statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency stated that the agreement was reached within the framework of efforts by the two countries to strengthen their own security and achieve regional and global security and peace. The agreement aims to develop defense cooperation between the two countries and to enhance joint deterrence against any act of aggression.
The statement noted that the agreement stipulates that any aggression against any country is an aggression against both parties, but provided no further details.
