Foreign media: On July 30, the European Commission announced it will invest 10 billion euros (approximately 11.5 billion US dollars) to build seven artificial intelligence super-factories across the EU to catch up with the technological gap between Europe and the United States and China in the field of AI.
The plan was initially designed for five factories, but due to strong interest from member states, it has been expanded to seven. The goal is to stimulate at least 20 billion euros in private investment. These facilities will integrate advanced AI processors, software, cloud computing, high-speed networks, and data centers, complementing the existing 19 AI factories.
AMD, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm have signed letters of intent to provide chips for the project. Bidding will close on November 12, with the winning bidders expected to be announced in early 2027. After signing contracts, the facilities are expected to begin operations within 18 months.
