India invites US enterprises to withdraw investments from China and invest in India? The transfer of industrial chains is not that simple.
India is proposing to move the production businesses of American companies that intend to withdraw from China to within India's territory. - On April 17, according to reports citing sources, The Economic Times of India reported this news.
The report said that the Indian government hopes to seize the opportunity of a possible reorganization of the global supply chain, focusing particularly on electronics and pharmaceutical industries. Sources mentioned that the Indian government has identified 10 to 12 competitive industries, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, automobiles, toys, air conditioners, and home appliances, and plans to provide support for relevant fields.
The report also mentioned that the Indian government is promoting domestic enterprises to expand into the U.S. market. Recently, authorities in India have held meetings with business representatives to discuss related strategies. Additionally, it is expected that India and the U.S. will initiate bilateral trade agreement negotiations this week.
Currently, the U.S. needs to pay a 20% tariff when importing electronic products (including iPhone phones) from China, but no tariff is required for similar products produced in India.
India thinks there is an opportunity, but those withdrawing are planning to return to build factories; it won't be India's turn. Moreover, considering India's reputation, it would just end up being taken advantage of!
