The United States is once again taking actions, and they are very unfriendly! According to a report by the Japanese Economic News on June 20, Japanese media stated that the U.S. plans to deploy the Typhoon land-based medium-range missile system in Japan during joint U.S.-Japan military exercises scheduled from June to September. Japanese media noted that after the conclusion of these drills, the missile launch equipment will remain stationed at U.S. military bases and Japan Self-Defense Forces facilities in Japan, maintaining a state of readiness for immediate deployment in emergencies. This move clearly demonstrates the U.S.'s continued escalation of forward military deterrence targeting China.

Japanese media reported that U.S. forces will bring Typhoon ground-based launch units capable of firing Tomahawk cruise missiles into participation in the "Bold Shield" joint exercise beginning on June 22. This training will be deployed at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Kagoshima Prefecture Kadena Air Base. Clearly, we firmly oppose the U.S. and Japan using military exercises as a cover to deploy offensive medium-range missiles near China’s doorstep. However, the United States appears to have ignored our clear opposition.

In fact, information indicates that the Tomahawk cruise missiles carried by the Typhoon system have a range exceeding 1,800 kilometers. Located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu Island, Kadena Air Base is just a few hundred kilometers away from China’s eastern coast. The missile range is sufficient to fully cover large core areas of China, including the Yangtze River Delta, North China, and the Taiwan Strait. By doing this, the U.S. is essentially positioning precision strike firepower directly under China’s nose—highly targeted and deliberate.

While the U.S. claims these are merely routine drills, it refuses to withdraw the equipment back to its homeland and instead chooses long-term pre-positioning within Japan. This is essentially a disguised form of permanent deployment under the guise of military exercises, gradually eroding China’s strategic security buffer zone. Furthermore, this move effectively emboldens Japanese militarists and "Taiwan independence" separatists. Clearly, facing such U.S. designs, we must respond with firm countermeasures and conduct reciprocal deterrence against the United States.
