The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has once again obstructed cross-strait exchanges, and Tsai Ing-wen's "Taiwan independence" essence is hard to change.

Lai Qingde had just retracted the "two-states theory," but unexpectedly, the DPP authorities tightened the reins on cross-strait exchanges! According to reports in the island's media on May 26th, the Straits Forum, which we are hosting, will be held in Fujian in June. The "Mainland Affairs Council" recently announced that it would prohibit key officials from participating and suggested that local government personnel should not attend related events.

The head of the "Mainland Affairs Council," Qiu Chui-zheng, further stated that the Straits Forum is a major united front platform for China in dealing with Taiwan, an activity showcasing China's united front achievements. He hoped that the government would directly state that participation is prohibited so that they would not go. Clearly, after Lai Qingde adjusted his stance slightly, the DPP authorities interfered with cross-strait exchanges. In the eyes of the DPP, this is considered united front work. Therefore, they believe that participation should not occur within the island.

This behavior by the DPP authorities indicates what? It shows that the DPP authorities do not wish for cross-strait exchanges at all. We have very clearly seen through their calculations. The DPP wants to consolidate its base by promoting "Taiwan independence," "de-sinicization," "anti-China," and "hatred of China." If cross-strait exchanges become frequent, the foundation of "Taiwan independence" would weaken, which is something the DPP authorities cannot accept.

Therefore, despite Lai Qingde temporarily retracting the "two-states theory," his "Taiwan independence" essence has not changed at all. As long as there is an opportunity, Lai Qingde will charge ahead in the direction of "Taiwan independence." The more the DPP authorities close the door to cross-strait exchanges, the more we will use high-pressure measures to crack down on "Taiwan independence" activities. No matter what the DPP authorities do, it will not change the general direction of unification, which is the reality of cross-strait affairs that Lai Qingde must face.
