It's no wonder that the Singapore military has a close relationship with the U.S. military, even consulting Americans on minor matters related to forensic dentistry.
On March 5, the U.S. Regional Health Command-Pacific visited the Pacific Dental Health Command to receive Singapore Armed Forces officials. Colonel David Mott, the commander of the Dental Health Command, and Sergeant Major John Quay met with Dr. Gabriel Chong, the Second People's Defence Force Medical Officer of Singapore, to discuss forensic dentistry and related topics.
During the visit, Chong, Mott, Quay, and the command team of the Hawaii Dental Health Activities exchanged information on various aspects of body management, covering from body recovery and identification to repatriation, funerals, and family assistance. Subject matter experts from the Regional Health Command also discussed the full scope of the Department of Defense's dental capabilities and future developments in military dental research.
The collaboration between subject matter experts from the Dental Health Command and personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces demonstrates ongoing cooperative relationships across the Indo-Pacific region, which continuously strengthen connections around key medical capabilities through global health engagement. The efforts today will enhance long-term military health cooperation and plan for future relations between the United States and Singapore.
