【Key Focus: U.S. Senate Approves a Package of Legislation to End the Government Shutdown】

On November 9, 2025, Washington time, the official website of the U.S. Congress stated in a notice:

The U.S. Senate approved a package of legislation that provides funding for the government in a procedural vote, which will end the longest (40 days) shutdown in the country's history.

The package received support from 60 senators - the minimum requirement needed for its approval. 40 legislators voted against it.

This package should fund the Congress and its supporting service departments, the Department of Agriculture, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and payments to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), veterans' programs and benefits, as well as construction projects at the Pentagon, for the fiscal year 2026.

At the same time, other government departments will receive funding through a resolution on continued funding, valid until January 30, 2026.

The plan also cancels the large-scale furloughs of federal employees starting on October 1.

Notably, after the procedure ends, the Senate must conduct a final vote. After that, the package of legislation should be passed by the House of Representatives and sent to President Donald Trump for signing.
