The report cited an article from the "UK Defence Magazine" stating: "Multiple sources indicate that since at least 2008, US nuclear weapons have returned to British territory for the first time, with several B61-12 nuclear bombs being transferred to the RAF Lakenheath base in Suffolk County."
The article said that these bombs are believed to have been moved from the US Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico to a newly built secure storage facility in the UK.

"UK Defence Magazine" wrote: "In the context of deteriorating relations between NATO and Russia and NATO's strengthening of deterrence, the return of these weapons will signify a major shift in NATO's nuclear strategy in the European theater."
The report stated that neither the US Air Force nor the UK government has commented on this weapon deployment.
