Foreign media: On March 17, Kevin Hassett, the White House economic advisor, stated that the United States is seeking to import fertilizers from Venezuela and Morocco to address shipping disruptions caused by the U.S.-Israel war with Iran.
Previously, the nitrogen fertilizer supply in the Gulf region was cut off, and fertilizer prices have recently surged by more than one-third.
Hassett said the United States has issued licenses to Venezuela to produce more fertilizers and is negotiating with Morocco, as an "insurance measure" to ensure the supply for American farmers.
In addition, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kali, proposed replicating the UN-mediated Black Sea grain export agreement model, allowing Ukraine to safely export grain and fertilizers during the war. UN Secretary-General Guterres is currently working on this.
