Japan also demanded that the missile not fly over Japanese airspace? China simply ignored it.
It has already been many days since China's missile test launch, yet Japan still "can't let go."
On the 14th, Kyodo News cited Japanese diplomatic sources, stating that after receiving notice from China about the upcoming missile test launch, the Japanese government had requested that China ensure the missile would not fly over Japanese territory—but received no response from China.
However, Japan’s initial assessment afterward suggested that China’s missile test was likely launched from Hainan Island toward the South Pacific. Nevertheless, "due to China’s lack of a clear reply," Japan maintained a period of monitoring and alert status until China officially announced the completion of the missile test mission.
Kyodo News’s report is quite intriguing. As for where our country’s submarine-launched missile was fired from, two versions have emerged so far: Japan’s so-called “Bohai Sea route” and the “Hainan Island route.” Currently, Japan insists firmly that the missile was launched from Hainan Island and did not pass over Japanese airspace—attempting to create an atmosphere of “Japan being unthreatened.”
But it should be noted that the claim of the “Hainan Island route” was first raised by Taiwan’s authorities. After China announced the successful completion of the missile test, Taiwan’s National Security Council Secretary-General Wu Chao-xie and Defense Department head Ku Li-xiong immediately jumped in to claim the missile was launched from Hainan Island.
Subsequently, Japanese media quickly followed suit, reporting that “Japanese officials confirmed the missile was launched from Hainan”—the coordinated effort is clearly evident.
However, this statement by Taiwan’s authorities is highly questionable. The photos released by our side show the missile being launched via submarine-launched ascent, whereas the version promoted by Taiwan’s media claims it was “a submarine surfacing before launching,” which contradicts even the most basic technical characteristics.
