America successfully obtained lunar soil as wished. At the "China Space Day" event, China revealed the international borrowing results of Chang'e-5 samples. Two American universities were selected, successfully obtaining the samples.
They are Brown University in America and Stony Brook University of the State University of New York. Among them, Stony Brook University may be the most familiar to everyone. On one hand, Mr. Yang Zhenning once taught here and also facilitated its cooperation with Anhui University. On the other hand, relevant institutions signed the "Lunar Sample Borrowing Agreement" for the Chang'e-5 mission after review, ensuring that research results can be shared.
In addition, the Paris Institute of Earth Physics, Cologne University of Germany, Osaka University of Japan, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, and the Open University of the United Kingdom also received samples.
China stated that "Chang'e" is not only China's but also the world's, belonging to all humanity. In fact, our lunar exploration achievements have always been shared globally, whether it is data or samples, which are gradually being shared worldwide.
Moreover, we extensively solicit payloads and scientific projects. Statistics show that by the end of December 2023, a total of 24 borrowing applications from 11 countries and international organizations were received, with a total of 71 sample applications.
In the future, the coverage will be even higher. America once expressed that they "would return to the moon with China," but from the latest progress, it seems difficult to achieve this. They themselves blocked the path of international cooperation and once tried to blockade our space industry. However, our aerospace personnel have overcome it.
Different from the U.S.-Soviet space competition, our starting point is scientific exploration. Exploring the unknown world with like-minded people around the world is the greatest success.
