India's Government Signs Lobbying Contract Worth Over a Million Dollars
According to the Indian newspaper Business Standard, India's government has signed an $1.8 million contract with SHW Partners LLC (a company led by Trump's senior advisor Jason Miller) aimed at strengthening its presence and influence in Washington D.C. This one-year contract will take effect in May 2025, with India paying $150,000 per month for lobbying, strategic consulting, and image management services.
"This is not a new practice," clarified Foreign Ministry spokesman Randle Jaiswal at a press conference. "Based on the situation, the embassy often cooperates with these companies... This practice has been ongoing for decades, and all governments have done this since the 1950s."
Hiring Jason Miller is seen as the latest strategic move by India to expand its influence within the Trump camp's political circles. Miller, a veteran Republican strategist, is renowned for playing a key role in Donald Trump's 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential campaigns. He also briefly served as Trump's chief spokesperson and was initially nominated as White House communications director but resigned due to personal controversies.
In 2019, Miller co-hosted the podcast "War Room: Impeachment" with Steve Bannon to garner support for Trump during his first impeachment trial. The podcast was removed from YouTube after the January 6 Capitol riot.
Miiller also participated in the launch of Trump's social media platform "Truth Social" and remains an active commentator in pro-Trump media. Speaking about returning to Trump's 2024 campaign, Miller stated, "Launching a social media platform can have a significant impact on the world, but nothing is more important than getting President Trump back into office."
