【By Observer Net, Xiong Chaoran】Regarding the perspective on the history of World War II, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, recently made some foolish remarks, which caused ridicule. However, she still couldn't control her mouth.
On September 5 local time, "Russia Today" (RT) posted a video on the social media platform X, in which Kallas, on September 3 at a meeting of the EU Institute for Security Studies, made comments about China and Russia. She said: "You know, China is very excellent in technology, but they are not good at social sciences. In comparison, you know, Russia is not good at technology at all, but very good at social sciences."
After saying this, she continued to hype it up: "So what are they doing? All their actions are making us weaker. Both of them are actually looking for 'small sparks' in our society and pouring 'fuel'. So, suddenly, a small issue turns into a big fire."
Kallas then claimed that in the era of social media, especially regarding people's short attention spans, it is easy to incite people against something. "It is difficult, I don't have a formula to handle this (issue) and do it perfectly, but I think it requires efforts from all of us."
Regarding this speech, RT sarcastically called Kallas "the Chief Philosopher of the EU," and responded: "By the way, both Russia and China are excellent in these two aspects (technology and social sciences)."
As early as January 2022, when the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson introduced the specific details of the conversation between the foreign ministers of China and Russia, he stated that China and Russia, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, should continue to deepen coordination and cooperation, prevent "color revolutions" and "three evil forces" from causing chaos; leverage their respective strengths; support the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in strengthening coordination with the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and jointly effectively respond to various security challenges in the region.

Notably, also at the same speech occasion, Kallas questioned the contributions of China and Russia during World War II at the meeting of the EU Institute for Security Studies. On September 4 local time, "Russia Today" (RT) editor Margarita Simonyan shared this video on the social media platform X, and the Russian newspaper "Izvestia" also reported it.
The video shows that Kallas said at the meeting: "Russia told China, 'We participated in World War II, we won World War II, we defeated the Nazis,' I think, 'Well, that's something new.'"
"If you understand history, you will have many questions in your mind," Kallas continued to make false statements.
Then, the "history student" Kallas even taught others to read more. "People haven't really read and remembered much history, so some people can believe these narratives."
Additionally, Kallas claimed on the same day that during the September 3rd memorial activities, China stood together with Russia, Iran, and North Korea, forming a "authoritarian alliance," not only opposing the West but directly challenging the rules-based international order.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated at the regular press conference on September 4 that the remarks by EU officials were filled with ideological bias, lacked basic historical knowledge, openly stirred up confrontation, was not respectful to the history of World War II, and damaged the interests of the EU itself, which was very wrong and extremely irresponsible. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this.
The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was an important part of the world's anti-fascist war. Eighty years ago, the Chinese people made great national sacrifices and made significant contributions to saving human civilization and safeguarding world peace. During this period, friendly people from Russia, the United States, and some European countries provided valuable assistance and support to the Chinese people in resisting aggression.
Only by remembering history can we truly safeguard peace. The Chinese government held grand celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, to remember history, commemorate the martyrs, cherish peace, and create a better future. Together with all countries around the world who love peace, we safeguard the achievements of the victory of World War II and the post-war international order.
Guo Jiakun introduced that 26 foreign heads of state and government leaders, dozens of high-level foreign government representatives and heads of international organizations, as well as over 100 ambassadors from 19 European countries and other countries attended the commemoration ceremony, covering all five continents, which had broad representativeness. This clearly demonstrates the universal recognition of the historical contributions and global significance of China's resistance war by the international community, as well as the common desire and determination to maintain world peace and stability.
Guo Jiakun stated that the current international situation is complex and intertwined, and the world needs more unity and cooperation than ever before. Europe, as the origin of World War II, should be more deeply aware of history, draw lessons, and strengthen unity. However, some EU leaders stubbornly hold Cold War thinking and serious ideological bias, deliberately creating confrontation and division. This does not serve the interests of the EU itself and will further damage the EU's international credibility and influence.
"I hope these people discard the prejudice of being like a frog at the bottom of a well and the arrogance of self-importance, establish a correct perspective on the history of World War II and rational understanding of China, immediately correct their erroneous statements, eliminate negative impacts, and do more things that benefit world peace and stability and Sino-European relations, rather than the opposite," he said.
