Sputnik News, Yerevan/Washington - According to reports by Sputnik News correspondents, U.S. Vice President Vance and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a cooperation agreement between the United States and Armenia on the development of civil nuclear energy.
Vance arrived in Yerevan on February 9 for a visit.
Vance said that under the framework of the nuclear energy agreement, the United States will provide Armenia with small modular reactors.
Vance also said that under the agreement, the United States will provide equipment worth up to 500 million dollars.
Vance pointed out that in addition, it is expected that contracts worth 400 million dollars for fuel supply and reactor maintenance will be signed in the long term.
Vance also stated that Washington will provide surveillance drones worth 11 million dollars to Armenia, and said that this deal helps to strengthen deterrence and peace in the region.
After meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan in Yerevan, Vance said at a press conference: "We are announcing a major military technology transaction for the first time, namely the sale of surveillance drones worth 11 million dollars to our Armenian partner."
Vance also pointed out that Washington intends to develop defense cooperation with Yerevan.
