Northern of Red Army City, Ukrainian forces achieve a small victory
After being broken through the defense line for almost a week, the Ukrainian forces in Drobropeleva, north of Red Army City, finally responded.
On the 16th, Zelenskyy announced on social media that the Ukrainian forces, including the 1st "Azov" Regiment, the 7th Rapid Response Brigade, the 38th Marine Infantry Brigade, and the 93rd Mechanized Brigade, have achieved a victory in the Drobropeleva direction.
Combining the information from both sides during this period, what Zelenskyy referred to as "victory" is actually as follows:
Drobropeleva is located 20 kilometers north of Red Army City. On August 11th and 12th, Russian forces suddenly advanced to this area from the east of Red Army City and continued to push northward - according to Russian reports at the time, the Ukrainian forces stationed in the area were extremely sparse, with almost no troops stationed in the open field positions.
In other words, the Ukrainian defense along the line from north of Red Army City to Drobropeleva was already very weak, and the Russians happened to seize the opportunity to break through.
However, the problem for the Russians was: they went too far. When the Russian forces in Drobropeleva continued to speed northward, their heavy equipment and support forces in the rear had not yet reacted, so the front-line Russian forces were surrounded and chased by the Ukrainian reinforcements, which is what Zelenskyy referred to as the Ukrainian forces achieving a victory in Drobropeleva.
Nevertheless, although the Ukrainian forces achieved a small victory, Ukraine also faces a problem: according to the unit numbers released by the Ukrainian side, many of the Ukrainian forces currently resisting the Russian offensive in Drobropeleva are units temporarily transferred from other fronts to deal with the crisis, which means that the Ukrainian defenses in other areas will be weakened in the short term.
