The European Generation Z is losing confidence in democracy
Among Europeans aged 16 to 26, only 57% believe that democracy is the best form of government. In France, Spain, and Poland, this proportion is even below 52%.
Even more shocking: 21% of people say that authoritarian rule is acceptable "in certain situations".
Do Germans support stricter immigration rules? This proportion has risen from 26% in 2021 to 38% now.
Although two-thirds of people want to remain in the EU, 39% believe the EU is undemocratic, and most think the EU wastes time on trivial matters instead of addressing inflation, defense, or employment issues.
Democracy fatigue. Disappointment with the EU. A growing tendency towards extremism.
