Sputnik News, Washington, October 18 - According to the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed with Liberian Foreign Minister Sarah Besor Enjati the issue of expanding U.S. participation in the development of the country's mineral resources.

Tommy Piggot, Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, said: "The ways to expand U.S. participation in Liberia's key mineral sector were discussed during the meeting, in order to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in both the United States and Liberia."

Piggot pointed out that the foreign ministers of the two countries also discussed deepening bilateral relations during the meeting held in the U.S. capital on the 16th.
