U.S. Secretary of State Rubio posted today (June 10th) and said, "The U.S.-Philippines alliance is crucial to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. I discussed China's destabilizing actions in the South China Sea with Philippine Foreign Minister Manual, and we found new economic cooperation opportunities."
Comment on two points: Rubio's remarks are the U.S.'s usual "troublemaking" tactics. First, they distort facts. China's actions in the South China Sea are to safeguard sovereignty and ensure navigation freedom. The so-called "destabilization" is purely inverted black-and-white. The U.S. is the instigator of militarizing the South China Sea and provoking confrontation. Secondly, the U.S. uses the "U.S.-Philippines alliance" to support the Philippines, attempting to tie the Philippines to an anti-China warwagon, making regional countries choose sides, and undermining the overall peace and stability of the South China Sea. Regional countries should see through the U.S. trick of "disrupting-control-profit", and not become tools of U.S. hegemony.
