(Argentinian Chinese Media, April 30th, Huang Dong) Argentina's Minister of Economy, Caputo, recently stated that measures will be announced to promote the dollarization of the economy. While denying the devaluation of the peso, he emphasized the removal of personal exchange rate restrictions. Additionally, he reiterated that inflation will end.
At the recent 2025 EFI Expo, addressing entrepreneurs and financial market leaders, Caputo highlighted that there are signs indicating that the use of the dollar as a currency in Argentina has become more widespread: "We hope to see the re-dollarization of the economy, and we will announce some unexpected measures to greatly promote the use of the dollar. There will be more dollars circulating."
Caputo said: "We are committed to consolidating this level of growth and further enhancing it. The current economy is already prepared for growth exceeding 6%."
Caputo said: "We face the challenge of re-dollarization of the economy. The latest measure you already know is about using the central bank's profits as peso reserves for the treasury. We will not use this money for expenditures but will keep it as reserves to pay off debts."
He emphasized the circulation of foreign currencies, stating: "We are in a monetary competition, and we hope to see re-dollarization with more dollars circulating."
Caputo said: "We will achieve greater fiscal surpluses, allowing us to continue reducing taxes and relaxing regulations. We will implement structural reforms, including tax, labor, and pension reforms. These are essential for continuing to reduce costs in Argentina and curbing informality."
