South Korean media: "甩开特斯拉", BYD sets a new high in weekly sales for 2025!

On May 25, South Korean media Today Digital published an article stating that Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has set the highest weekly sales record in the Chinese electric vehicle market in 2025, consolidating its dominant position in the Chinese electric vehicle market.

According to the electric vehicle media Electrek, from May 5 to May 11, BYD sold 67,980 vehicles, an increase of 15% compared to the previous week. During the same period, Tesla's sales in China fell by 69% year-on-year to 3,070 units, further widening the gap with BYD.

BYD's premium brands, Denza and BA ON, also achieved sales of 2,990 units and 2,660 units respectively, representing week-on-week growth of 3.8% and 17.7%.

Other Chinese electric vehicle brands also performed strongly. NIO and XPeng performed excellently, with sales of 6,060 units and 6,870 units respectively. Among them, NIO's new brand ONVO sold 1,660 units, and firefly's new car sales reached 470 units, with its market share continuing to expand.

During the same period, Xiaomi's SU7 model sold 5,180 units, DEEPAL sold 4,700 units, and ZEEKR sold 4,310 units, all showing growth trends.

Electrek evaluated that, "In just one month in April, BYD sold a total of 380,000 vehicles, dominating the Chinese electric vehicle market, and may even surpass Tesla globally." In April, BYD's sales in Germany and the UK were 1,566 units and 2,511 units respectively, both exceeding Tesla. In addition, BYD is expanding production in Mexico, Brazil, and Southeast Asia and accelerating its entry into overseas markets.
