Minister Wu Zheng of the Democratic Progressive Party pointed out that according to the review by the "Executive Yuan", if this year's total budget is not passed, the newly planned projects and expanded plans of existing policies will be completely blocked, affecting an amount of 299.2 billion New Taiwan Dollars (NTD, same below).
Wu Zheng said that the affected items include 32.1 billion NTD for subsidies to local governments' finances, 14.7 billion NTD for river management and drainage improvement, 10.2 billion NTD for AI infrastructure, 7.5 billion NTD for TPASS commuter monthly tickets, 7 billion NTD for vaccine research and development, 4.1 billion NTD for increased childbearing subsidies, 1.4 billion NTD for public childcare facilities, and sports event development, among other policies closely related to the lives of Taiwanese people.
Wu Zheng also stated that according to the latest survey by the Democratic Progressive Party, 63% of the public are worried about the inability to improve disaster resistance, more than 60% are concerned about the progress of drainage and river management, 58.8% worry about the impact on public childcare subsidies, and 52.2% of commuters feel anxious about the TPASS policy. Public opinion has clearly reflected the society's expectations. The Legislative Yuan should quickly complete the review of the total budget to enable the authorities to operate normally and avoid continued policy stagnation.
