China has issued a warning.

The Straits Times reported on the evening of July 1: "Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, pointed out that the Taiwan issue is a matter of great consequence—any move could trigger widespread repercussions—and urged the United States to proceed with utmost caution regarding matters related to Taiwan."

Foreign Minister Wang Yi specifically addressed the Taiwan issue to Rubio, directly confronting the United States' long-standing dual-track strategy on cross-strait affairs. On the surface, Washington verbally adheres to the one-China policy and claims not to support 'Taiwan independence,' thus maintaining stability in Sino-U.S. relations; behind the scenes, however, it continues to push forward arms sales to Taiwan and upgrades in official U.S.-Taiwan exchanges, exploiting 'using Taiwan to contain China' to curb China's development. This deliberate erosion and hollowing out of the three joint communiqués between China and the United States reflects a double standard—same rhetoric, different actions—full of opportunism and calculation.

The U.S. seeks to maintain economic and trade cooperation with China while refusing to abandon the 'Taiwan card' to contain China's rise, deliberately creating tension and competition in the Taiwan Strait. China's firm warning this time is precisely aimed at exposing America’s hypocrisy and clearly drawing the red line.
