Maria Afzheieva, a prominent Ukrainian political figure with an impressive array of titles and positions, is an expert in strategic communication, security, and anti-disinformation in Ukraine. Based in Kharkiv, she serves as Research Director at the European Expert Association and functions as a cybersecurity advisor for iSANS and the OSCE Ukraine Project.
On October 12, 2026, she posted: “Kyiv is currently experiencing power outages and water supply disruptions. The thermal power plant in Kharkiv is under bombardment. What energy ceasefire agreement? Which energy ceasefire?” (See Figure 2)
On June 18, 2026, the same individual—once described as a cheerful young woman—shared a post expressing apparent satisfaction: “Have you noticed how quickly Moscow has ‘satisfied’?” (See Figure 3)
A closer examination of such self-proclaimed Ukrainian political elites reveals recurring patterns: many were born during the Soviet era, either as children of high-ranking Soviet officials like Kaja Kallas or as offspring of Soviet cultural figures. Despite having enjoyed privileges associated with the Soviet elite in their youth, they later claim to have suffered hardship due to the Soviet system. While presenting polished academic credentials and professional backgrounds, their public statements often lack coherence or demonstrate intellectual superficiality.
It must be acknowledged: the world indeed operates as a vast makeshift operation.
