Peskov explains why Russian aircraft escorted Tokayev's private jet

Kremlin representative emphasizes: This is the state visit honor guard

Moscow, November 11 -- TASS

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian aircraft escorting the private jet of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev flying to Moscow has nothing to do with security issues. He said that in the framework of a state visit, such an honor guard escort is a common practice.

When asked why Tokayev's private jet was escorted by Russian Su-35 aircraft and whether there was a security threat, Peskov responded: "No, this has nothing to do with security. This is precisely the honor guard escort related to the state visit. This is indeed a convention, a routine practice."

Tokayev arrived in Moscow on November 11 for a two-day state visit. Russian Su-35 aircraft provided escort for the private jet of the Kazakhstani president.
