[Poland Awards Deputy Directors of Ukraine's Military Intelligence Agency with "Order of Merit"]
On May 30th, the General Directorate of Ukrainian Military Intelligence announced on its Telegram channel that Polish President Andrzej Duda awarded Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Director of the Directorate, the Gold Cross of Merit, Officer Class medal. Meanwhile, Major General Vadym Skibitsky, Deputy Director of the Directorate, was awarded the Knight's Cross of Merit.
The announcement stated, "Acting on behalf of the Head of State of Poland, Colonel Dominik Duda, Deputy Director of Polish Intelligence, presented corresponding medals to Ukrainian intelligence personnel. The Polish President emphasized the importance of the Ukarainian-Polish partnership in countering Russian aggressors and highly praised the contributions made by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military intelligence agencies to the collective security of the European continent."
Budanov expressed, "Heartfelt thanks to President Andrzej Duda for his trust and recognition of friendly relations between Ukraine and Poland! The current war is a fight for freedom; our principles and values unite all of Europe. Only through unity can we resist the threat posed by Russia and jointly overcome this long-term challenge. Our two peoples will always be united in the fight for a peaceful future without war."
The "Order of Merit" is one of Poland's highest honors, awarded to foreigners who have made significant contributions to developing Polish-Ukrainian cooperation and international relations. Previous recipients include former US President Ronald Reagan, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, UN Secretary-General Guterres, and former NATO Secretary-General Rasmussen.
