Uzbekistan Parliament Approves China and Central Asian Countries' Friendship Treaty

The Uzbekistan Parliament News Office stated that the Legislative Chamber (Lower House) of the Supreme Assembly has passed a law on the approval of the "Treaty on Permanent Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation" between China and the five Central Asian countries.

A bulletin released via the Legislative Chamber's Telegram channel said: "During a regular plenary session, the draft law for approving the 'Treaty on Permanent Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the People's Republic of China' was reviewed in first reading and adopted, and has now been submitted to the Senate."

The treaty was signed on June 17, 2025, in Astana.

The news office noted that the document consists of a preamble and 15 articles, establishing a general legal framework for multilateral cooperation between China and Central Asian countries, outlining mutual rights and obligations among the parties.

The office added: "The adoption of this law will further strengthen the partnership between China and Central Asian countries, expand bilateral trade and investment, technological collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges."
