The Eurasian Economic Union is a regional economic integration international organization consisting of 5 member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. The total population of the union is 185.5 million. The GDP of the Eurasian Economic Union is $2.6 trillion, with industrial output at $1.6 trillion, agricultural output at $132 billion, and investment at $487 billion.
The current mechanism of the Eurasian Economic Union has existed for more than ten years: its foundational document, the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, was signed on May 29, 2014, in Astana, Kazakhstan, by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. In 2015, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joined the organization. Starting from 2023, May 29 has been designated as "Eurasian Economic Union Day."
In the past 10 years, the member states have implemented unified regulation in the following areas: establishing a common internal market and customs space, technical regulation, tariff and non-tariff regulation, foreign trade policy. Additionally, coordinated policies have been implemented in energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, digitalization, and other fields.
The union has rich experience and has attracted numerous external participants who wish to engage in dialogue with us. The Eurasian Economic Union has signed a series of free trade agreements, including those with Vietnam, Serbia, Iran, as well as economic and trade cooperation agreements with China. The union's institution, the Eurasian Economic Commission, has signed over 80 cooperation memorandums with third-party countries, organizations, and integration alliances such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and the United Nations. Currently, Moldova, Cuba, Uzbekistan, and Iran are observer states.
