Lavrov said: "We exchanged views on the latest situation in the Ukraine crisis. Our North Korean friends clearly supported all objectives of the special military operation and the actions of the Russian leadership and the Russian army."
The Russian foreign minister pointed out that the proposal to send troops to help Russia liberate Kursk region came from the North Korean side. He emphasized: "We have no reason to refuse this sincere gesture of solidarity."
When asked whether Russia would allow North Korean soldiers to participate in other operations after liberating Kursk region, Lavrov said: "We will respond according to the proposal of the North Korean leader, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission (Kim Jong-un)... We believe that North Korea will independently decide the form in which our country's strategic partnership treaty will be implemented."
The report stated that Lavrov also said at the press conference on July 12 that Russia would only provide assistance on issues of interest to Pyongyang and Seoul.
When asked whether Moscow was willing to help restore relations between North and South Korea, Lavrov said: "Regarding the relations between North Korea and South Korea, we will only provide assistance in directions that Pyongyang considers acceptable and of interest."
