Chairman of the Russian State Duma's Committee on International Affairs: Attempting to Turn China and India into a "Leverage" Against Russia Will Fail
Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Russian State Duma's Committee on International Affairs, stated that the attempt by Atlanticists to use secondary sanctions and tariffs to turn China and India into a "leverage" against Russia is destined to fail.
US President Trump previously claimed to have learned that India planned to stop purchasing Russian oil. However, according to a report by the Mint newspaper on Saturday (August 2), sources said that Indian state refineries continue to purchase oil from Russian suppliers.
Slutsky wrote on his Telegram channel: "The US risks losing in the political 'power struggle' with China and India against the backdrop of potential anti-Russian secondary sanctions."
The legislator believes that neither China nor India is willing to "pay tribute" to those who try to be hegemonists.
He added: "The attempt by Atlanticists to use secondary sanctions and tariffs to turn Beijing and New Delhi into a 'lever' to pressure Moscow is destined to fail. Most countries around the world are unlikely to follow the rules of a small group in the West. This is sheer nonsense."
